Thursday Night Football: Football Alberta Virtual Coaching Sessions

 

When: Every Thursday Night during the month of February and March (8 Sessions Total)

Start Date: Thursday, February 5th

End Date: Thursday, March 26

Time: 8pm-10pm (8pm-9pm Minor Football Focus, 9pm-10pm High School & Beyond Focus)

Cost: Free, however registration is required

What: Virtual Coaching sessions with a specific theme each week (eg. Offence-Run Game Techniques and Schemes, Defence-Secondary Techniques and Coverages).

Consistent with the Long Term Athlete Development Stages of Football (FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Train to Train), the first hour will focus on basic fundamentals, techniques and schemes that can be introduced at a minor football level stressing basic teaching points and straight-forward drills that can be taught at the minor football level. Focus for the minor football will be on skill development and athlete engagement.  

Consistent with the Long Term Athlete Development Stages of Football (Train to Train, Learn to Compete,Train to Compete and Learn and Train to Win) the second hour of the session will focus on a high school and beyond level of football. This hour will have the same (or similar) theme to the minor football session but build upon it with more advanced skills, drills, schemes and teaching points.
