Alberta High School Football Rankings for 2024!
Each year the first rankings are released during the CFL’s Labor Day Classic between the Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders. The Football Alberta Rankings for 2024 will be continually updated each Sunday until the completion of the regular season and league playoffs on Nov. 3. At that time final rankings will be assigned to those teams advancing to the ASAA Alberta Bowl Playoffs. Note the new classification system for high schools playing 12-a-side. Gone is the old "Tier" system and in is the new "A" system classifying teams in 5A (1400+ student population), 4A (800-1399 student population, 3A (799 or less student populations. Also, note the addition of 9-a-side rankings to the 6-a-side Top 5 as 9-a-side in now an official ASAA recognized level of play for the Alberta Bowl.
REGULAR SEASON RANKINGS
Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all three classifications of 12-a-side high school football in Alberta and the 9-a-side plus 6-a-side rankings as well for the 2024 season.
The teams are slotted based on their estimated school size as determined by the Alberta Schools Athletic Association. Please note that games vs. US opponents, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools due to too many variables and inconsistent rules for those games.
Should you have any questions about the rankings or listed teams please contact Football Alberta.
The second weekend in November is when all High School and Minor Football Leagues qualifiers begin Provincial Play.
